Our pigs are from traditional breeds including Large Blacks, Saddlebacks and Tamworths. We buy our pigs from two breeders as weaners(no longer having mothers’ milk) and rear them outside in the summer months or inside on straw beds when it becomes wet, cold and muddy. They are fed on home grown cereals mixed with a bought in pellet to ensure a steady growth. When they are ready, normally at about 6-8 months we take them to our local slaughter house.
