PRIZE WINNING BANGERS AT BROWNS
|
The BPEX (British Pig Executive) Regional Roadshow
for the East of England was held at the Peterborough showground on
Wednesday 24th September. The event incorporated the annual
Awards for Excellence in Meat Products, which gave butchers from all
over the region a chance to have some of their products judged.
Jeanette Ray, butcher at Browns of Stagsden Farm Shop
entered the competition for the first time in September 2008, and took
four of Browns’ wide variety of sausages to be assessed. The sausages
had to be presented both raw and cooked and at the end of the day the
staff & family at Browns were delighted to hear that Jeanette came away
with two Silver Awards (Pork & Fennel and Pork, Port & Stilton) and two
Bronze (Old English Pork and Moroccan Lamb)
Jeanette said "It was a great experience; I always
knew our sausages were special and now we have proved that they are some
of the best. I was really pleased as three of the varieties are gluten
free recipes, which can be difficult to get the texture and flavour
right."
